Bureau of Meteorology, VIC, Australia

Andrew is a Senior Research Scientist at BoM researching the influence of climate change on natural hazards (http://www.bom.gov.au/research/researchers/Andrew-Dowdy.shtml). He works closely with various public and private sector organisations to improve preparedness for climate hazards, including emergency services, infrastructure, energy, transport, planning, finance, insurance and a range of government organisations. He investigates bushfires, thunderstorms, tropical cyclones and extratropical cyclones including east coast lows, as well as associated extremes (lightning, hail, pyroconvection, extreme rainfall, severe winds and ocean waves). This includes temporal scales from short-term weather conditions up to long-term seasonal and climate scales, based on observations as well as modelling.
