Large carbon pools exist in tropical regions, which are potentially more vulnerable in a warming and less stable climate. For instance, prolonged dry spells may result in extensive biomass burning, transforming land surface carbon pools into emissions of carbon dioxide, methane and carbon monoxide. Despite this, there remain few high quality, long term in situ observations of greenhouse gases in tropical regions.

We here present atmospheric composition data (in situ carbon dioxide, methane and carbon monoxide mixing ratios) from CSIRO’s Gunn Point Baseline Air Pollution Station, examining the trace gas signals present in the air masses measured at the station.
